Title: Transfusions/Desferal

I wanted to inquire about recieving Desferal along with the Blood Transfusions.
I sometimes (well mostly all the time) have my Desferal [sub-cue] still in, when I am recieving the Transfusions. Also, along with that I recieve Desferal intravaniously.
Is this too much Desferal to be had while recieving Blood?
Will the Blood going through the body be affected in a negative way?

Hi red!

Desferal via I.V is more efficient for removing excess Iron that is circulating in the blood stream. Furthermore the heart receives it much faster via blood than Sub-Q so it can efficiently remove Iron from the heart as well.

However, some people are allergic to Desferal via this route (like me). We had discussed this earlier at:
