Thanh,
What is your body weight and how many milligrams is each tablet of Exjade that you are taking?
-
I weigh 115 im 24 years old 5'4

3 500MG tablets daily

Thanh,
For your body weight, 1500 mg Exjade daily is the proper dose (30mg/kg body weight). In cases of severe iron overload, 40 mg per kg body weight have had good success in reversing the iron load. Exjade does take some time to lower ferritin levels, but with full compliance, you will see a continued drop in ferritin and you can expect a level of under 1000 within 1-2 years based on your current level. A truer measure of your iron load will be found by annual monitoring of your liver iron.

I tried taking Exjade for about a year. Unfortunately, it didn't work on me. My iron levels increased each time the dose increased, so my doctor put me back on Desferol. I would get your iron checked regularly to determine if Exjade is working for you, or if you need to go back on Desferol. Now I'm working on getting back to the levels I was at before I started the Exjade.
Good luck!

Exjade does take a while to take effect. One has to be patient. My son's level keep increasing for 1.5 years while taking exjade. Then, suddenly, it starts to take effect. Came down from 4000 to 2000, to 1800, 1300, 1200 1100, 800 and now 600. He started exjade at 3 and ferritin starts to drop at 4.5 years of age.

Hi aus.
its good to hear that finaly your son's ferritin level is in controle .. i m not on exjade but my dr. told me that she is looking to move me on exjade , when my ferritin will come under 1000 . she is waiting for the right levels to start exjade... My son's level keep increasing for 1.5 years while taking exjade. Then, suddenly, it starts to take effect. Came down from 4000 to 2000, to 1800, 1300, 1200 1100, 800 and now 600. He started exjade at 3 and ferritin starts to drop at 4.5 years of age
i think the main reason behind the slow decrease and taking that much time to start decreasing , it could b the high levels of Ferritin when you started exjade ... but.. finaly :congrats for the succes to controle his Ferritin ....
Best Regards
Take Care

Exjade is for me one of the best inventions of the world!!!
I took 4 or 5 months to have an effect on me but now it's perfect.
Have a little patience and you'll find the results.

Laura.
