Post by: CLF on November 07, 2008, 04:40:13 PM: I'm new here and haven't had time to read through all the info ... it looks like an outstanding site... Thanks to you all for your welcomes so far. . My mom, myself and my daughter are all thal minors.. I didn't know I had it until I was about 20. My mom had taken iron for years because she was always tired and it never helped. Finally, some doctor figured out what she really had. Her father had been from Serbia (Yugoslavia) and we are supposing that is where it started. After she found out, I was tested (I was in college at the time) and had it also. Then when my daughter was born (my husband did not have the trait), I had her tested and she was minor also. That was 12 years ago, and there wasn't a lot out there other than "there are no symptons", and so on. I haven't looked into it for the last several years.. After her recent blood test, her hemoglobin was down to 10.9 and the doc wanted to give her iron... i resisted and she agreed to a ferritin test, which was "normal" - 26.. She still wants her to take a multivitamin with iron, but i posted on a supplements thread the other day, and Andy recommended Centrum Silver, which I think is the correct way to go. I was amazed at your quick replies and appreciate all the support you give to one another. I almost feel bad complaining about "minor" issues, when others have so much more to contend with. Nevertheless, I will continue reading through the posts and asking questions that come up. Thanks again,
