I have thal minor, but I am posting here because most minors don't get splenectomy. It is too big for them to do it laparoscopically. They are also removing gallbladder also. I am afraid I won't wake up. I am afraid it is so big that it may cause problems. I am scared of the big incision. I dred the 5 days in the hospital. I dred looking at my belly and seeing staples sticking out. Any experience or encouragement would help. Thanks

No worries.. :smiley
I had my spleen removed 2 yrs ago.. They said its size as a rugby ball n the incision was abt 15cm.
Anyway, it only took 2 weeks...1 day prep, 1 day surgery, 2 dys icu, and 10 dys hospital bedrest.. Just prepare a stock of good books, movies, also games in ur tablet besides upcoming laugh n reunion from families & friends :smiley
Then probably few more days at home before going back to ur routines..

I had my spleen removed when I was 7. It's a big event but you will be back to yourself in a few weeks and it's probably better for your health in the long run.
I hope everything went well please update us with your recovery!
