Hi Christine!

The sooner you do it, the better it is because of less complications due to fewer transfusion and no Liver fibrosis due to Iron overload. Plus a smaller child needs lesser amount of the precious stem cells.

Take care, Peace!

Well,

The first thing to do is to find the donor whose HLA matches with your baby. The chances are the highest in the siblings. However you can even find a match in an unrelated donor if you are lucky. The next step is choosing the right place for the transplant. Italy has the highest reputation for successful BMT. Next step is to manage the funds for it. You need to contact the doctors of that hospital for them to consider your case etc.

Take care, Peace!

Christine,

First step is to get the HLA match up done with the siblings(if any)? There are 25% chances of a sibling HLA matching.

Also, along with the BMT, you might want to get her HLA in the registry for finding possible donor's
