Dear Andy,
My son's ferritin this month has dropped to 362 from 500 last month. He's under Exjade for 3 years. I have consulted with his doctor and got an advice that I should continue the same dose (two 250 mg per day for his 17 kgs) as long as his tests on BUN ALT Creatinine are in normal range. Yes, they are in normalrange now. What is your ideas? What should do? Should I get him checked more often? Currently he is tested once  every four weeks just before he receives transfusion.

My advice is to continue the dose for now. When it goes below 300, talk to the doctor about using a maintenance dose for awhile of 20 mg/kg daily. I don't particularly like stopping chelation altogether because it can lead to iron deposits in the organs.
Andy

All we are saying is give thals a chance.
