PLATELETS....... How to reduce naturally?
« on: September 25, 2013, 06:02:50 PM »
Ok, since I got my spleen removed, the main issue is that my platelets went high. 2 weeks after surgery they went to 1.4 million, now 7 months later they have settled between 620-675. My hematologist said to take a baby asprin every day. But long term NSAID give me uhhhhhhhhhh  :rolleyes "male related" side affects...  Any suggestions for natural way to deal with high platelets? thanks

Try natural vitamin E. Time will also bring the level lower.

With a splenectomy, platelet counts will remain high forever.

However, it will come down to the 400-450K levels over a period of time.

The funny thing is that despite the higher number of platelets, I have seen no changes to my clotting time whatsoever - if, anything, I believe that my clotting time may have increased. Post TX or blood drawing, I have to always take a dry cotton swab for coagulation to happen. A swab dipped in alcohol keeps the blood flowing!

Not on Aspirin, but have been taking Vitamin E, as Andy also mentioned.

Cheers
