Dear Andy,

I have pregnancy 21 weeks, after DNA testing, the doctor said that has mutation genetic CD26 (HBE) and CD 17, and surely that our baby got Beta thal major, we should be end pregnancy.

I really need your advise please!! Or we will have another better way please?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

This is a tough decision, because the baby would be transfusion dependent. So, you have to look at the treatment available in Vietnam. Is transfusion available? Is chelation available? Are there doctors with at least a basic understanding of thalassemia? If a thal child can get adequate care, there is no need to terminate the pregnancy, but if treatment would be seriously lacking, then another decision may be needed. In today's world, thals can live long healthy lives, as long as they can get their treatment regularly.
Andy

All we are saying is give thals a chance.
