I think we all should be very supportive of this effort to help in the face of a great problem. Bangladesh is one of the poorest nations on earth and is a country with a huge amount of thalassemics. We cannot ignore this. I urge anyone who can, to help out this center in anyway possible.

Yes,Bangladesh is poor country and also in dangerous position about thalasamia because most of people are not know what is thalasamia. How can there protect themselves.
In Bangladesh we have thalasamia organization and there organize conference about thalasamia, but there unable to take there voice to the government.
I want to give thanks Dr.robin for ASSA thalasamia, Dr.waqar khan for SHISHU   thalasamia hospital and  Mr.rabbani for thalasamia SOMITI and many more transfusion organization where we can get blood. There doing great job for us.

Thanks
Bappy

I received this message today and thought it would be appropriate to post in this thread. As always, I hope people understand just how desperate the need for help is in these countries. Never throw out medicine if someone else might be able to use it. I have delivered desferal to people all over the world. Make sure chelators get used. If you can help the people of Bangladesh, please do so.

Hi,
I m from Bangladesh.I am a member of Medicine club. Medicine Club is an academic cum social organization run by medical & dental students & Medicine Club is one of the organization in Bangladesh who work directly for thalassaemia patients. We have 12 units in 12 Medical College Hospital in our country. We mainly try to fulfill the blood requirements of thalassaemia patients who come to get treatment in those govt. hospitals.

Activities of Medicine Club on thalassaemia :

Aware people about thalassaemia by organizing rally, seminars, symposiums & other activities.
Manage free fresh blood for the thalassaemia patients.
Give first priority to the thalassaemia patients in blood transfusion, drug distribution & any kind of needs.
Fix some thalassaemia patients as Registered Recipients & give them regular treatment follow up.
Create a group of people as Fixed Donar who wants to donate their blood to the thalassaemia patients.

For more details you can visit our website http://www.medicineclub-bd.org/

Most of the thalassaemia patients in Bangladesh are poor,we manage blood for them but they need help to buy drugs or others supports in splenectomy. As our organization is a voluntary organization & our income source is very limited,we cant support this poor patients.Do you have any project in which you help poor thalassaemia patient???

Hello,

Thanks to all.In Bangladesh actually nowhere the proper center or clinic for thalassemia.I am living in a second capital city of Bangladesh. But you know there are no perfect specialist or doctor for thalassemia. After many searches I found only 2 Hematology in my city and I go to both of them.

First one is soo much professional. She just said to me " you have no need to come me again just maintain transfusion when hb will be 9.That time my baby was below 1 yr.No checking,no advice just only prescribe folic acid 2.5 mg." That's all.

Now the second Doctor... I will never forget him.Bcoz he did not touch my baby though I request him for checking my baby and see her weight. He just repeat to me "why you are coming? it have no treatment." When I ask about my babies diet he suggest only potato. He only ask us a lot of questions that is "why you have got marry? Are you relative or cousin?why both of you are not test your blood before get marry etc..."

Finally he advised me "you may give your baby Desferal by infusing pump for 6/5 nights in a week " No treatment,no test how he was gave the suggestion I don't know. That time my baby was only 7 months old and got only 3 transfusions.

At last he conclude her treatment by said that "actually your baby have no future and ultimately no cure for the disease.Just carry on transfusion".When he said no future then we stand up and I said ok sir thank you.

Finally I found one of Hematologist.Who is a nice person, nice advice, good good everything good.May Allah always help him. When we met with him in Dhaka that was really a good moment in our life.
