« on: August 16, 2015, 04:14:51 PM »
i have the beta thalassemia trait. i am female, 52 years old. apart from chronic irritability and poor athleticism, i've been doing ok except for one thing. around age 45 the whites of my eyes started turning yellowish.

my diet is outstanding. i get at least 20 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. i take supplemental vitamin d3 and b12. my bmi is normal and my bodyfat is very low. i do 1 hr of weight training every day. i use sun protection and sunglasses every day.

should i start adding carrot juice or something?

I would recommend to check out the liver quotes and bilirubin. Have you ever had problems with the gallbladder?

It's likely due to the high turnover of red blood cells and the ensuing increase in bilirubin. With the diet you already follow, there probably isn't much you can do, but I would suggest taking magnesium if you don't already do so.
Andy

All we are saying is give thals a chance.

Andy. Has magnesium any relation / influence to the bilirubin?
I think folic acid is also a good idea for minors ...

yes you are right sir,
if bilirubin is increased it can be lowered down easily by few herbal and Ayurveda medicines.

The goal is to slow the breakdown of red blood cells. Magnesium is a factor in red cell lifespan. DrRajpal may be able to offer some herbal remedies hat will also help.

@dr. Rajpahl
Maybe it's: Withania somnifera or also known as ashwagandha ?
I have had very good experience with Taraxacum officinale, do you know that plant? I also use α-lipoic acid...

I increased the dose of milkthistle from 100mg to 400mg since 1.5months and the sclera is far less yellowish.
